Full Face of Lidl Makeup!

A little while ago Lidl released a makeup range called Cien. I was really excited to try it as I've had heard great things. So I popped down to my local Lidl and picked up the few bits that they had to offer. I bought their mascara, a lipstick, a lip gloss, nail polish and two of their eye shadows. I already had their BB Cream which I made a full video on. Here's how I got on....

Mascara - I like the mascara wand, it's very easy to apply. The formula is nice and wet but not so wet that it's messy. It is a lovely mascara for a natural makeup look. It doesn't give great volume or length. It's almost like it tints your lashes, as I said, very natural.

Eye Shadows - I was really quite impressed with the eye shadows. They feel almost velvety to the touch. They blend easily and aren't patchy. I bought two of the four shades currently available, vanilla cream and brilliant brown. Vanilla Cream is a very light cream shade, almost translucent. I use this for setting my eye shadow primer. Brilliant Brown in the pan looks like it has some shimmer to it but when applied to the eyes it's actually matte and it's beautiful. Pigmentation wise, it takes a little bit of work to build up. I really like both of these colours and hope they add more shades to the range.

BB Cream - I really like the BB Cream, it has a lovely fresh scent and feels cool to the skin when applied. My favourite thing about it is that it colour corrects my skin really well. It gives decent coverage without having a heavy feeling.  One layer would give you a lovely natural finish, I apply too as I need that extra bit of coverage.

Nail Polish - This was a major surprise for me. I really really like it. The brush applies the polish really well, it's similiar to the Essence brushes. The polish itself is a lovely formula, applied really evenly and dried pretty quickly too. I was also impressed by how long they lasted without chipping! I didn't use a base coat or top coat and they didn't chip for about 3 or 4 days!! I also really love the colour, at first I wasn't sure about it but the more I've worn it the more it's grown on me. It's called 'Nude Brown' and is a gorgeous pinky brown.

Lipstick - There was only one shade available in my Lidl and that was 'Fushia Pink' a shade I wouldn't necessarily of picked up. The colour just doesn't suit my skin tone and makes my teeth look a little yellow. Having said that again I was surprisingly impressed. It applied well, quite creamy. It was well pigmented and lasted on my lips for quite a while.

Lipgloss - I have to be completely honest here,as I always am,  I hate lip glosses, I have never come across one that I like. I've tried both High end and High Street and I've yet to find one that I like. Unfortunately the Cien lip gloss was no different. It felt quite oily on my lips, the colour I felt wasn't really true to the colour represented on the tube. And it just felt uncomfortable on the lips. As I said I feel this way about most if not all lip glosses so if you're into lip glosses then maybe just try it yourself?

Overall I'm really impressed with the range that currently available and I'm excited to see what they bring out next! I did a full video trying all the makeup on for the first time over on my YouTube channel, I'd love if you gave it a watch and subscribed to my channel too!

All about the Reds!

What's your safe lippie colour? Mine is red. I know a lot of people would probably say a nude lippie or maybe a pinky brown lippy but for me it's red. I have fairly big lips and red lipstick always looks good on them so over the years I have accumulated quite a collection of red lipsticks. Today I'm going to be sharing my absolute favourites...

Stay Pout in 'Date Night' from Seventeen really is the perfect red for a date night. It's a bright red that's creamy on the lips but stays in place so you don't have to worry about it budging from your lips. It feels very comfortable on the lips and doesn't dry them out what so ever. One of the best things about it is that there's no fragrance from it. It drives me mad when lipsticks have a strong fragrance but luckily this beauty isn't fragranced. It has decent staying power, it won't budge unless you eat something, but when it does wear away, it does so kinda evenly so that you don't end up with patchy bits around your lips, it just fades into a pink shade. It comes in at €5.99 and can be bought in all Boots stores and online. Definitely a must have.

Next up is 'Eros' from NYX. This is a beautiful orangey red shade, perfect for the spring summer time. I usually wear this with a dewy simple base, simple eyes with lashes and leave the main focus on the lips. Similar to the Stay Pout lipstick, it's very comfortable on the lips, however it is slightly less creamy and as a result I think, it's a little bit longer lasting. Such a beautiful shade and for €5.75, you really can't go wrong!

'Soft Paprika' from No7 is a stunning shade of red, very Marilyn Monroe esque. It's quite hydrating on the lips and even has SPF of 15 which is really great! This lippie pairs very nicely with a gold smokey eye and gives you the perfect tah dah! moment! Such a lovely shade and I always get compliments when I wear it. It's very pigmented so lasts quite well too!

Both of the Rimmel lipsticks perform the same way, the only difference being the colours. I have 01 and 107. Both are very popular shades and they're both from the Kate collection. I totally get why they're so popular. They're absolutely gorgeous, 107 is probably my favourite of the two. It's a much deeper red with a  blue undertone. Both have matte finish which means they're not the most hydrating so make sure you moisturize your lips well if you want them to last. They're both very long lasting and all round brilliant reds to have in your collection. My only negative thing about them is the fragrance. 01 isn't too bad but I can't stand the smell of 107. It's grand once it's on your lips as you can't really smell it but it has a very strong smell when you're applying it.

Last but by no means least is my MAC 'Diva'. A very deep plum red shade, perfect for the Autumn/Winter months. It has a matte finish so make sure your lips are well prepped. It doesn't have the longest staying power, but we'll forgive it because it's just so damn gorgeous! Absolutely obsessed with this shade! Diva is around the €20 mark and can be bought from any MAC counter.

So those are my favourite Reds! What's yours?

My Favourite Purple Lipsticks

Hi Everyone!

I don't know what it is about the colour purple, but I am always drawn to it. Especially when it comes to lippies. I just love the look of purple lipstick, whether it's a deep plum or a bright pastel purple, I just love the look of them! I own quite a collection of them at this stage and have found myself constantly using the same few. SO here are my favourites...

Interestingly there are two lippies from Flormar and two from MakeUp Revolution, both affordable brands with excellent products. I'm going to talk about each lipstick individually, first up is...

Flormar L34: I purchased this lipstick over in Fuerteventura almost a year ago. This was before Flormar was available in Ireland. I picked up a few shades just to try them out as they were on offer for something small  like €3. I picked up L34 ( I'm not sure if it now has a proper name now or not). It is a gorgeous vibrant purple and is absolutely perfect for Spring Summer time. The pigmentation is crazy good! And it lasts hours without needing to retouch it. It applies very easily and feels super creamy on the lips but has a matte finish which is a little different.

Flormar L33: Again I picked this up in Fuerteventura last year. I really love this lipstick, it's a gorgeous pastel purple. Similar to L34 it applies very smoothly. It does need a few layers to really build up the colour as my lips are naturally quite dark and obviously the lipstick is a light pastel purple. It does feel a little bit more drying than L34 but it's not uncomfortable to wear. I just really like the look of the lipstick and it's one of my absolute favourites!

Velvet Vamp:  This is a liquid lipstick from Makeup Revolution. I find Makeup Revolution to be a hit and miss brand, but their lipsticks are definitely a hit. One of my all time favourites  lipsticks used to be Wet N Wild Vamp it up, I loved how dark it was. The only problem with it was that it wore off terribly. For the first hour it was gorgeous but the second it started to wear away, it looked awful. When I seen velvet vamp on the MUR website I thought, maybe just maybe, because it's a liquid lipstick it might have better staying power. When it arrived I knew straight away that it was a winner. The formulation is a million times better. It has a matte finish but wears away really well because it leaves behind a stain. Once applied it doesn't budge for a few hours! It looks black in the picture above, but it's not it's just a really deep plum purple. This is probably my favourite lipstick of all time!

Keep Lying For You: I bought this alongside Velvet Vamp from the MUR website. This is a great liquid lipstick, just like Velvet Vamp it applies really well. The applicator is very sturdy but kind of moves with your lips, so you can't really mess up when applying it. They staying power is just incredible and it is SERIOUSLY pigmented!!! It wears away really well and is just an absolute gem considering the price! I think I paid £1.25 for it, absolute bargain!

What is your favourite purple Lipstick ?

Autumn Inspired Makeup

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a makeup tutorial for you, as you know I'm obsessed with all things Autumn. So obviously my makeup looks change from Summer to Autumn. This is a look that I've been wearing quite a lot recently as you'll know if you follow me on snapchat 'chasingrubychat'

Almost all of the products used were from affordable drugstore brands, so it just proves that you don't have to spend a fortune to end up with a good look. I personally love this look and the colours are very autumnal, so let me know in the comment what you think and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more videos like this.

My Favourite Autumn Lipsticks

Hi Everyone!

SO you may have guessed by now, if you've read any of my previous blog posts , that I LOVE Autumn. I love everything about it including the darker more dramatic makeup. I live for darker lipsticks, they suit my skin tone a lot more than bright ones and I just love the dramatic look of them. SO without further ado, here are my top five Autumn lipsticks...

Sand Storm - This beauty is from Wet n' Wild. I always pair it with the brown lip liner from Pennys and the two of them together are just a dream. This is my favourite nude for Autumn. The lipstick itself is great quality. It's creamy but doesn't slip and slide all over the place. I find it to be quite hydrating on the lips too, very comfortable to wear.

Vamp it Up - This beautiful deep purple is also from Wet n' Wild. I do find this lipstick to be quite drying, it's beautiful when it's on and I absolutely love how dark it is, but I do sometimes have difficulty actually applying it. I usually use a lip brush to apply it, so it does take a few seconds longer to apply. however once it's on your lips, it's not drying and feels very comfortable to wear.

Rimmel 107 -  You guessed it, it's from Rimmel. The camera didn't quite catch how deep this red actually is unfortunately, but it is a lovely deep berry red that's perfect for Autumn. I usually pack away my orange reds and pink reds this time of year, always opting for deeper berry tones. It's quite creamy so I do like to pair it with the Penny's red lip liner. They work really well together and I always get compliments when I wear them.

Ghost Berry - This beautiful colour is from Ghost and can be purchased from Debenhams. This is in fact a lip crayon, and it's possibly my favourite one. It's very hydrating and feels amazing on my lips. It's has quite good staying power as well which is very impressive. This is my everyday go to lippie and I actually featured it in my September Favourites HERE.

Cherry Bomb - Another amazing lipstick from Wet n' Wild, you just can't beat the value. Amazing products for only €3!!! This is a  beautiful, purple red colour, almost ox blood red/plum. It's lovely and comfortable on the lips and doesn't slip and slide. The staying power is insane with this lipstick, even if it's worn away, because it's quite dark it will actually act as a stain so you don't need to top up as often! LOVE love love this lipstick!

So there you have it, my favourite Autumnal lipsticks, what's yours ?

September Favourites

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all well and having a great week. September was a weird month for me. I started back at college, I started working full time again, I was spiked on a night out and then I got tonsillitis. Lots of other things happened in between too and I was a bit all over the place. But despite my setbacks, it was still a good month! Today I'm sharing my September favourites, better late than never.

Let me know in the comments what you're favourite thing about September was!
