My Wonderful Trip to the Radisson Blu Galway

Hi Everyone ! I'm just home from the most amazing weekend away ! Just a quick warning, I will probably say amazing about a 100 times in this post, so I apologize in advance. Just before Christmas, the Into The West Blogging Network held a twitter party. They held a couple of competitions and I was lucky enough to win one ! Which in itself is incredible, I never win anything, and what an unbelievable prize it was. I won a stay for two at the Radisson Blu hotel in Galway where the ITWBN event was held. The prize included breakfast too (Yay for free food).

If you're not aware of the Into The West Blogging Network, It's a network for Irish bloggers both at home in Ireland and abroad. It's a fantastic network that welcome you with  open arms and treat you like family.

So Saturday afternoon myself and James excitedly headed to Galway on the train which by the way is €9 return for students ! When we arrived we were thrilled to see that the hotel was basically beside the train station, so it was really easy to carry our bags to.

When we walked in we were immediately impressed. From the big automatic round swinging doors to the incredibly modern elevators, It was all very sophisticated. If you're looking for a weekend away in Ireland, the Radisson Blu is just an amazing hotel. It's very modern and classy. I would 100% recommend this hotel. Let me tell you why.....

We went and checked in and headed up to our room. It was just amazing !! I've never seen a hotel room so big ! My favourite thing about the room was the massive bed, I couldn't help but jump on it the minute I laid eyes on it !

I honesty couldn't get over how beautiful and stunning the room was ! The desk was a lovely big marble desk, perfect for doing my make up.It had a control panel for the heating which I thought was a great idea because some people like cold rooms and some like really warm rooms so allowing the guest to control how warm their room is I think is a brilliant idea. There was also a little table by the window with a plate of fresh fruit and a personal card for me, from Adrienne the lovely sales manager for the Radisson. This was such a lovely touch and made me feel super welcome!

The bed. The bed was the biggest bed I've ever seen. I think it was actually two bed pushed together. It was so nice and super soft. I loved sleeping in it, it was easily the comfiest sleep I've had in a long time. When my alarm went off this morning I didn't want to leave it, however the thought of food helped in leaving it haha !

The bathroom was gorgeous too. Incredible marble counters and huge mirrors with white lights, which was super useful when applying my foundation. The bath was also massive which I was surprised at because most hotel room baths are usually quite narrow, but this one was so luxurious. I had a bath Saturday night in it and it was just amazing ! I'm a little obsessed with that bathroom.

So we made our way down to breakfast and were greeted by the friendliest of staff who seated us immediately. The choice of food was great, very varied. I ended up going for a croissant with a little nutella (what's breakfast without a little sugar). We then indulged ourselves in a massive fry ! I cannot explain how good the food was, it's possibly one of the nicest fries I've had in any hotel/restaurant ever ! James was also very happy about the breakfast and ate absolutely everything !

After breakfast we headed back up to our room so I could get ready for the ITWBN event. It was so nice to be able to relax and take my time getting ready and not having to worry about getting a train and whether my hair would stay styled and if my makeup would be half gone etc. When I was finished, we packed up and headed downstairs to the bar before I headed into the ITWBN event !

I'd just like to say thank you to Saibh, Sinead and the Radisson Blu Hotel Galway for making this prize possible, I truly had an amazing time here. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful and the room was just amazing !

I'll be doing a post tomorrow about the fabulous event so if you want to read about it, make sure you check back here tomorrow !

At The Box Office Lately

Over the last few months I've found myself at the cinema very regularly. I'd say since December I've been about eight or nine times. I love going to the cinema, It's one of my favourite things to do. I thought since I've seen so many movies recently I'd do a little review of the films I've seen.

1. Unbroken : Before I seen this film, I hadn't seen any trailers so I didn't really know what to expect. It's basically about the life of Olympian Louis Zamberini, who along with two fellow crewmen, survive a near fatal plane crash in WWII and are left in the middle of the ocean for 47 days before being captured by the Japanese navy and held as prisoners in a prisoner of war camp. I absolutely loved this movie ! The strength of this man was unbelievable, It's been nominated for 3 oscar awards and with good reason. It is quite a long movie, but still a very good watch. Angelina Jolie directs this movie and she does a great job. I can't say better things about this film, if you haven't seen it I'd definitely recommend it. 9/10 for me !

2. The Hobbit : I have seen all three lord of the rings movies and I read the hobbit in Junior Cert, I didn't however see the previous two hobbit movies (shame on me I know). I thought I'd be quite lost watching the movie but actually I really wasn't. The story is very well explained throughout the movie and I think even if you had no clue about LOTR or The Hobbit, you'd still really enjoy the movie. It was very enjoyable and probably one of the best action films I've seen in a long time. 7.5/10 for me !

3. The Theory of Everything : A movie about the amazing life of Stephen Hawkings. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie and when I finally did, I was not disappointed ! It truly is an incredible story and the acting is phenomenal. This is definitely one the best films that I've seen in a long time. 9.5/10 for me !

4. Exodus; Gods and Kings :  This film is about Moses and the struggle Hewbrew people had in ancient Egypt. I do think it was a very good depiction of the biblical story but I don't think I'll be rushing out to get it on DVD. Christian Bale plays Moses and does a great job, over all I did really enjoy the movie. 7/10 for me !

5. Kingsman : A fictional story based around a secret government organisation. I actually really liked this movie, it's a good lighthearted funny movie. Colin Firth and Samuel Jackson star in this film, I loved Colin Firth's character but hatednot Samuel Jacksons. It's actually quite good up until the last half an hour, from then on it's almost like a parody James Bond film. Having said that, it was quite funny and I would watch the movie again. 6/10 for me !

 6. Wild : I was very excited to see this film because I love Reese Witherspoon. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed. I loved Reese but I always love her. I felt like the story build itself up for a big ending and then there just wasn't one. I was actually very disappointed and I think, had another actress played Cheryl Strayed instead of Reese, I would probably of hated it. 4/10 for me !

 7. Into The Woods : I really really wanted to like this movie, but I just didn't which is strange because I'm usually obsessed with anything Disney and fairy tales. I almost felt like this movie was a parody. I thought had they ended it half way through it would have been an ok movie but to be honest I just didn't like this movie. I think James Cordon and Meryl Streep were great in it and I loved the fact that it was a musical but it was just missing that Disney feeling for me. 5/10 for me!

8. American Sniper : I went to this movie out of curiosity because of all the controversy it caused. The movie is about the life of Chris Kyle, an american Navy Seal who becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. I actually didn't know it was a true story until the end. I really enjoyed the movie, to be honest I don't really get all the controversy. I understand that it's quite bias toward America, but that's how Chris Kyle lived his life so they haven't really done anything wrong in my eyes. Maybe I just got sucked into the propaganda, I'm not sure. I really did like this movie and I'm glad I went to see it. 8/10 for me !

9. The Imitation Game : A story about the life of Alan Turing . The genius man who broke enigma and essential won WWII against Germany. I am just obsessed with this movie, I didn't really have any knowledge about Alan Turing or his work before seeing the film. I think Benedict Cumberbatch was absolutely fantastic. The film is nominated for 8 Oscar awards and it's easy to see why ! I cannot recommend this movie more, it's simply a must see. 9.5/10 for me !

It's quite easy to see that I like documentary style movies or true life films. Have you seen any of these films ? What did you think ?

A Souper Anniversary

No I didn't spell Souper wrong ! In college my nickname is 'Soup'(as in the brand Erin's soup) and everyone calls James 'Cooper'(as it's his last name). Therefore as a couple we've been renamed by our friends as 'Souper'. Anyway, it was our first year anniversary last week !! We didn't really plan much except going for dinner. I felt so grown up, getting all dressed up and going out to a fancy restaurant. We went to a fabulous little restaurant called Tuscany. If you're ever in limerick, I seriously recommend you eat there. It's a great little Italian and the food is to die for. It was just amazing ! After we recovered from our food coma we decided to go to the cinema. We went to see 'The Kingsmen', which stars Colin Firth. I actually thought it was a really good funny movie. Most of the movies we've seen recently have all been very serious heavy films, so this was a nice change. We had a great night altogether !

Manicure Monday

I gave my self another little manicure, this time I used a nail polish from a Christmas gift set I received a while ago. The nail set was the strictly come dancing set. This polish is called sizzling flammable. It's a gorgeous bright vibrant pink. I've nearly finished the bottle so I really need to find either the same colour or something extremely similar. The one thing that annoys me with these nail polishes is the brushes. They're so small and you need about 10-15 strokes to cover a nail. Saying that however, that is my only complaint. The colour is just beautiful and I know from previous uses that it doesn't chip for ages. I wanted something bright and funky on my nails this week and sizzling flammable is just perfect  ♥

What's on your nails this week ?

5 Favourites | January

Hello everybody ! I cannot believe I'm writing this post already, how is January almost over ??? I'm back in college now and settling back into a routine. I have two new modules which I think will be so much fun, design studio and interaction design so I'm sure there'll be some posts when my projects are completed. Anyway, here's what I've been loving this month !

My Scarf : The weather has been freezing this month and I have not left the house without my blur tartan blanket scarf. It's 100% wool and keeps me ridiculously warm. It also has another design on the other side, so it pretty much goes with everything. I bought this in October for €7 in Pennies/Primark and it's been one of my best investments.

Sudocrem : My skin has just been awful this month, I assume it's because of all the crap I ate over Christmas. This little tub of cream has been magic. I know it's controversial in the beauty world, but it really works for me and I'd of been lost without it this month.

MUA Elysium Palette : This has been my go to palette all month. It's probably my favourite palette out of all my palettes. I love the gold, bronze and pink simmer, the perfect amount of sparkle.

MINT Nail Polish : I am obsessed with this nail polish and have been all month. If you want to read more, I did a post about it HERE

Collection Concealer : As I said above, my skin has been awful this month so concealer has been my best friend. If you read THIS post, you'll know exactly why I love this concealer.

So they're my five most favourites things in January ! What have been your favourites ?
